Poetry

Regret

You are beautiful in the moonlight
As you stand there, twirling my rose
Your laughter cuts me gently
Keeping me on my toes

We sit down by the roadside
As the clouds gather in the sky
Hope wells up inside me
And you look me in the eye

My heart is hanging heavy
As you say what you wanted to say
With your arms wrapped tight around you
To keep the wind at bay

The tear on your cheek glistens
As I brush it away with my hand
I dance away in the darkness
To bury my head in the sand
